Venus: Queen of Heaven & Earth |
 |
An exploration of the cyclic journey of Venus, with specific reference to the ancient story of the goddess Inanna. For the Sumerian culture, the planet Venus was a personification of Inanna.
Inanna's story can be read like an almanac of the movements of Venus, charting her periodic appearances and disappearances in the dawn and evening sky. Ancient Sumeria equates to modern-day Iraq, so this story has particular poignance at present. It was literally pieced together from cuneiform text written on fragments of clay tablets, buried in the sands of Iraq, unearthed and housed in museums all over the world ....... to be re-membered later ......
The Venus cycle repeats about every 18 months, so new information is added here regularly....

Water Bearer Dreaming
The symbolism of the sign of Aquarius.
Since the 1960s and the musical Hair, most people know that 'This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius', but perhaps not everyone knows that this refers to a shift in a major astrological cycle called the Great Year, which lasts 25,800 years and which comprises 12 periods averaging 2150 years each, corresponding to the 12 zodiacal constellations...... (Written Winter 2000.)
Shaping the Dream......

The Moon and the Nodal Axis
Moon Talk I
The Moon completes one orbit around our home planet Earth approximately every 29 days in an intimate and cyclic relationship which has profound effects within the soul. We know that the gravitational pull between the Earth and the Moon affects the seasons, mating, migration, tidal rhythms, and other behaviours in the plant, animal and human kingdoms. It is likewise within the waters of soul ....
Moon Talk II - Mother Moon
For many cultures, the Moon is the Great Goddess present through the waxing and waning of life in all its manifold forms, her shape-shifting but predictable cycle embracing the paradox of continuity within change.
